REVERT is a collection that documents nature’s response to what mankind has created and then abandoned. Captured in the Philippines and Micronesia, these images reveal how, in warm and humid climates, the phenomenon allows plants to grow upwards and slowly suffocate these man-made remains until they vanish completely.
This selection of photographs was originally shown as part of a collaborative exhibit titled REVENGE, selected for the PhotoESPAÑA OFF Festival 2025. The exhibit explores how nature has a universal goal of erasing any sign of human interference yet the way it unfolds varies adapting to each region’s climate, landscape and available natural resources.
To offer visitors a fully immersive experience, we took advantage of the abandoned objects already in the space where this collection was shown (now known as IMARA Studio) embracing the dust that had settled over the years on every surface. These elements were carefully repurposed to give realistic context to each image. To enhance the atmosphere, we added volcanic rocks on the floor and a mix of real and artificial plants throughout the space, recreating the feeling of nature creeping back in. The environment was completed with ambient sounds of birds and nature, echoing the theme of the exhibit.
