Inspired by the subjective way in which each person lives each experience, this collection shows 12 collages that aim to represent different interpretations of our paths in life, literal or symbolic, where the objective is always to reach a state of balance. Camino 1 opens the collection with a more realistic approach where all spectators can feel represented in the faceless older man surrounded by the most natural elements. He admires the horizon like a goal he can only reach by taking on unmarked paths shown through the natural shapes and textures of the rock formations and waves of an open sea before him.
The rest of the collages show different types of paths where we can see that, despite finding ourselves constantly surrounded by joys and challenges, reaching a positive balance and outcome is possible. Since all paths (the way we think or see things) are vulnerable to change, we have to be able to adapt and face the new opportunities we are presented with. This is why the artwork presented in this collection can also adapt to new perspectives by being able to hang as we see here, or upside down.
The only obvious exception to this is Camino 1! One thing is to be open to new experiences and another to throw yourself into the unknown without your feet on the ground.
Camino
CAMINO 1
The horizon is every goal one aims to achieve, and the only way to reach it is by overcoming different obstacles and experiences represented by the rocks and waves. We must create our own path and find our balance in the journey.
CAMINO 2
During childhood, we go through difficult experiences that help shape us. Facing and overcoming them gives us our first sense of personal achievement and inner balance. As we grow, new obstacles momentarily unsettle us, but never in the same way as before. With every challenge we overcome, we become more prepared for whatever lies ahead, making it easier to regain our balance.
CAMINO 3
Opposing forces are necessary to find balance. This interpretation of Yin & Yang invites us to accept that nothing is perfectly proportional and that as life unfolds, we never truly know when the opposing force will appear.
CAMINO 4
Throughout life, we must remain open and prepared for both positive experiences and challenges. Accepting that both must coexist allows us to grow, discover who we are, and achieve the balance we seek.
CAMINO 5
When we are surrounded by chaos and layers of experiences, we need to focus on a single, simple source of light to guide us through it. It could be a person, an object, or something abstract. It is something different and deeply personal for each of us.
CAMINO 6
When we find ourselves in moments of calm and stillness, it is the perfect time to let our minds explore new ideas, projects, adventures, and take risks.
CAMINO 7
Repetition is part of learning. Sometimes, we repeat past mistakes, even numerous times before we can move forward. Other times, we recognize something worth repeating in the future and should consider perhaps even turning it into a habit for the benefits it brings.
CAMINO 8
On our journey, we sometimes encounter unexpected obstacles. We move so quickly through life, thinking we have everything under control, that we don’t see them coming until they show up unexpectedly and stop us abruptly. Some might go into shock but we must remember the path doesn’t end here. We must take a moment for self-reflection, adapt, and recalibrate in order to evolve and continue forward when we’re ready.
CAMINO 9
Experiences and the forces that shape them don’t always appear one after another. Sometimes, they coexist in the same space and time. We must strive to ensure that positive forces outweigh the negative so that we can maintain control over how our experiences shape us.
CAMINO 10
Even from the most difficult experiences, we must be able to extract positive lessons that contribute to our personal growth. When we simplify a moment in life into two phases—before and after a defining event—we should apply the positive lessons from the first phase to our next one. This way, we face future challenges from a place of transformation and strength.
CAMINO 11
Our life is defined by a huge number of experiences that affect each of us in many different ways. Learning from these situations gives us the strength and tools we need to overcome difficult situations that arise. We must identify and remember the positive learnings to guide us through these situations and lead us to achieving personal balance.
CAMINO 12
When we reach the end of our journey, we should be able to look back and see only light. A life filled with experiences, adventures, celebrations, lessons, and challenges we have conquered. If we do so, we allow ourselves to finish with positivity, inner peace, and strength. In the end, we will have achieved the ultimate balance.
